Design2Code is the first real-world benchmark for automated front-end engineering from visual designs. Researchers manually assembled 484 diverse webpages and created automatic evaluation metrics. The study evaluates state-of-the-art multimodal models and finds that they lag in recalling visual elements and generating correct layout designs, highlighting the challenges of design-to-code automation.
