as for DMs, probably not any time soon, I think most folks would use Discord/WhatsApp/Telegram for direct messaging of members within a community, but it's not completely out of the question. Messaging does raise some important privacy concerns though, as without complex end to end encryption built in to the frontend app, administrators/operators would have full access to something that members may perceive as "private" so I'm being careful around that.

Would love to dig into that some more, do you mean iCloud style temporary/private emails?

You can also deploy an email-less instance where users can simply sign up with just a username.

Oh and replies are half implemented too, just need to do the frontend - will notify you of replies to your messages!

Ah this yeah, this should work already though the current email provider of this specific instance (Sendgrid) may reject these if you're noticing the verification email not arrive. We're planning to add more mail providers (as well as SMTP) soon so operators have a choice for emails.

For now, I'll test with temp-mail to make sure it's not blacklisted by Sendgrid and future providers, thanks!

Yeah, it was actually implemented a while ago but we removed it as it wasn't up to quality standards, we'll revisit in future with some more thought put into the design.

I don’t know if it’s just me or what, but I forgot my password and didn’t get any email in my inbox. Is this a bug or is it just me?

n also, it might be nice to implement a feature where if a message is deleted, there’s a notification for 2-5 seconds to restore the message

oh yeah, maybe it would be better if the time shown in the photo below or near the display name, if it’s a month, actually says 'month,' because when it’s written like '2month' and '6minutes' as '2m' and '6m,' it might be better to write it out fully like '2month' instead bc that's lil bit confused
